LULA FALL FESTIVAL
September 26, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 6:00 pmFree
With nearly 50 arts and crafts vendors, including at least two dozen potters, the Second Annual Lula Fall Festival takes place on Saturday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nearly two dozen of the area’s potters are the focal point of the festival that will include entertainment, folk art, handcrafted displays, antique tractors and farm equipment demonstrations.
“Our first event last fall was a good success and brought many people to downtown Lula to enjoy folk art, entertainment and socializing from across the region,” said Chris Lusink with the Lula Belton Historical Society, sponsors of the event. “We are so proud of the changes and improvements being made here in our community and the wealth of talent in Northeast Georgia, so we’re bringing it all together in one place at the end of September for the public.”
Centered in the newly revitalized downtown area near the train depot, the festival will showcase the area’s accomplished potters and folk artists, as well as crafters. Admission is free.
During the festival, members of the community and guests will paint this year’s town mural. One of the highlights of the festival is the community mural project. Mark Lusink and local artist Larry Ledford will design the mural; its theme this year is “Pottery in Lula” to celebrate the town’s long-standing tradition of accomplished potters.
Craftspeople will demonstrate their skills at the festival; the day will include musical entertainment and children’s activities. The Lula Belton Historical Society will sell barbecue and all the trimmings.
“We want to make this year’s festival twice as large as last year’s,” Lusink said. “With the number of talented potters, folk artists and craftspeople, our goal is to make Lula the Pottery and Folk Center of Northeast Georgia.”
